Welcome to WNAS

WNAS Radio, 88.1 FM, has been broadcasting live from New Albany High School since May 1949, making it the first FM high school radio station. You can listen on 88.1 FM, our live stream at wnas.org or on your smart phone with the app Tune In.

WNAS TV  began in 1980 and has been televising locally produced programs 24 hours a day ever since. WNAS TV can be found on Cable TV channel 25 or 12.33 and A T & T Cable TV on the Government Access Channel

History / Events - Alumni

 Ron Badger (Michaels) - Class of 1988:  Worked in numerous markets with Clear Channel Communications.  Currently is on-air talent at 97.9 WXTB FM (98 Rock) in Tampa, Florida and is syndicated in numerous markets across the country. 

 Noah Best - Class of 2001:  Worked as an Operations Technician at WAVE - 3 TV in Louisville from 2004-2012 and is currently at Peritech as a technician dealing with voice and video. 

 Joe Buchman - Class of 1976:  Worked at WXVW, WSTM, WNUU, WREY, WBWB, WTTS, WUTK and others, interviewed on Coast to Coast AM (over 600 stations) twice, and was on Mongolian national shortwave broadcast (really!)  Then in TV he was at WTIU, WISH, WHAS, and WAGT (promotion manager). After that, he went back to school and got a PhD in Telecommunications from IU.  He then taught audio production at Western Michigan University and Broadcast Sales at the University of Tennessee while writing a few book chapters in various college textbooks and then he co-authored a couple of editions of Broadcast and Cable selling.

 Kathlene Denhard - Class of 2010:  She is currently working with the Rocky and Troy Show on Louie 104.3 FM in Louisville and previously was at WICR in Indianapolis.

 Larry Estep - Class of 1991: Currently is on-air talent for Branson Radio.  Previously was Master Board Operator at WBNA and WLKY in Louisville from 1992-1999 and then became on-air talent for 103.9 FM WIMC until moving to Branson.

 Katy Frank - Class of 1970:  Graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in Radio/TV/Film. Worked at numerous radio stations in the Louisville market from 1975-2002 in a variety of roles.

William F D Mullineaux William F. D. Mullineaux - Class of 1978:  He worked at several radio stations in New Albany (WREY,WDGS), Jeffersonville (WXVW,WQHI), Louisville (WVEZ), Lafayette (WXUS) and Elizabethtown (WQXE) and MidAmerica Broadcast Service. Then he worked as an engineer for both Harris/Gates and Broadcast Electronics in Quincy, IL.

 Larra Overton - Class of 2001:  She did an internship with ESPN while she was studying for her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Indiana University.  She has worked at WDRB - TV 41 in Louisville, WTWO and WFXW in Terre Haute, the Big Ten Network, Turner Sports, Indiana Pacers emcee, and is currently working at the National Sports Journalism Center in Indianapolis.

Ian Vertrees Ian Vertrees - Class of 1997:  He is the Producer of the Terry Meiners Show on WHAS-AM, the Promotions Team Coordinator for WTFX-FM and WQMF-FM and provides on-air talent for WTFX-FM.

 Mandy Walker - Class of 2004:  She did an internship at MTV while I was at Ball State University, and that landed her first job with MTV. She worked on several shows and live events (award shows etc.) with MTV, then moved on to shows on TLC, Food Network, ABC, and several other jobs. She is currently working on a Food Network pilot. She is  a producer, currently story producing.

 Diane Williamson - Class of 1983: She worked at WXLN, WAVE, WHAS, and WVEZ radio stations.  Also was on television at WDRB as a writer, producer, and on-air talent.  Currently owns SheSaid Productions, Inc and is the voice of OnStar, Motorola, Intercontental Hotel Group, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Frigidaire, IVR systems for other lients, e-learning applications, and other TV/radio commercial voice work.
